Toxicity, reproduction and fetal abnormalities: herbicides and fungicides
Among pesticides, herbicides and fungicides have found extensive use in the control of plant diseases and the eradication of unwanted plants. In fact, these chemicals have significantly reduced the strong competition of weeds with important and essential food crops. Along with improved crop varieties, both herbicides and fungicides have increased crop yields, decreased food costs and enhanced the appearance of food. Without proper controls, however, the residues of these chemicals that remain on foods can create potential health risks. This article provides a brief introduction and an overview about adverse effects on reproduction and fetal abnormalities that may result from herbicide and fungicide poisonings.

The book entitled
“Toxicology” Resource for Self Study Questions published by All Solutions You Need (http://allsolutionsyouneed.blogspot.com)is an essential and practical document for
self-study and guidance catering to a broad spectrum of students. This book
covers a range of core toxicological areas which is aimed to make the study of
toxicology simple and understandable through key points, short-problem-solving
and objective questions. The information is collated and prepared from standard
and authoritative textbooks which are widely scanned. The author’s own
experience in different branches of toxicology has been abstracted in this
book.
This book covers a
range of key points in several core toxicological areas, including general
principle of toxicology, mechanism of toxicity, disposition of xenobiotics,
toxicokinetics, target organ toxicity, non-target organ toxicity such as
carcinogenicity, genotoxicity, developmental abnormalities, metals and
micronutrients, pesticides and fertilizers, biotoxins and venomous organisms,
poisonous foods and food poisonings, gases, solvents and vapors, toxic effect
of plants, radioactive materials, environmental and eco-toxicology as well as
forensic and clinical toxicology. Across 15 chapters, the book “Toxicology”,
presents key concepts supplemented with practical exercises to support active
learning; these exercises include objective questions in the format of
short-problem-solving questions (900), multiple choice questions (1200), fill
in the blanks (750), true/false (250) and match of statements (200). These
questions will help readers gain a deeper understanding of toxicology, as well
as assist memory retention for university and board examinations.
The main strength
of the book is that it reflects the breadth and multidisciplinary nature of
toxicology with objective approach to the subject and provides comprehensive
coverage of key toxicological concepts for self-study and revision. For example,
the student who needs a study aid for toxicology; the teacher of toxicology who
needs inspiration when composing questions for their students; the established
toxicologist who wants to test their knowledge or understanding, and for
in-house training courses in toxicology which I know exist in some
pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Thus, this book will be useful for toxicology,
pharmacy, medical, and veterinary students, and serves as a refresher for academicians
and professionals in the field, including clinical pharmacists, forensic
toxicologists, environmentalists, and veterinarians. Make sure to check out sample from amazon and give your comments on amazon and at our blog.
